Traitor Guard Armored Sentinel Squad

I admit it, I’m a tread head and a star wars geek, so when I was building up my Traitor Guard, not only did I fill it with a bunch of tanks, but had to add at least a couple of Sentinels. So here is my Traitor Guard Armored Sentinel squad armed with plasma cannons. I built up the bases using extra bits and sprue then filled in the bumps with plaster with a final layer of gravel on top. Conversions were fairly simple. The eagles on the front were cut off, and a chaos star was bent around the front of one and two Chaos Vehicle plates were added to the front of the other. With a bit of green stuff, I also added a bit of demonic presence to the one. With a bit of green stuff, I also added a bit of demonic presence to the one. Since sentinels are a bit taller than the tanks, the orange to red transition was a bit longer and by the time it got to the feet, they were …

Mentor Legion Stormtalon

Mentor Legion Stormtalon

Another model sitting on my shelf for way too long. Last year when flyers were the big hot thing, GW had a air force kit for the Space Marines with two Stormtalons and a Stormraven, I quickly built them up and started painting but got distracted with so many things in life. So here is my Mentor Legion Stormtalon. I also got a set of bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures Secret Weapon Miniatures to add interest on the large, nearly empty base. The junkyard base had a downed plane reckage that I painted up to look like a Ork flyer, a bit of internal competition. The base colors were done using an airbrush and painters tape to mask the other areas.  I then used washes to mark the panel lines and shade the green areas. The green was then highlighted and weathering done. The biggest issue I had with the original model was the nose weapon, so before building I did a search for other conversions and found Hand of Junk and Excommunicate Traitoris that both had …

Ork Deffkoptas from the Assult on Black Reach set

Ork Deffkoptas for the Death Skull Clan

So clearly from the lack of posts I have been a bit distracted from the world of 40k. It shouldn’t surprise me that it was 6 months ago almost to the day the I last posted, but it is a bit shocking! Any way, I finally got around to finishing the Ork Deffkoptas that have been sitting on my desk these many months.   I tried to make this very characterful and full of color since the Death Skulls are renown scrappers. So sections of red and of course blue make their way into different armor plating while the majority of the model is different colors of metal. The bases were a fun mix of rock, Spackle, and bits. I wanted the bases to have some character rather than the basic clear disk. One base has a dude rocket (probably from one of the koptas!), another has a fallen Iron Warrior, and the third a broken dozer blade. I’m glad I finally finished these especially since it looks like 6th edition is just around the …

Armour Sentinels Finished

I finished the last touches on my armoured sentinels for my traitor guard a few days ago but haven’t had a chance to post the pictures yet. Although one of the options for the current ToEMP challenge is a fast attack, I’m not going to count these as I had them nearly finished before the challenge was called. I have two scout sentinels that are coming along that I am using for the third challenge and should be posting wip shots soon.

Mmm… Chaos Sentinels…

I ordered these sentinels a couples of weeks ago from FRP Games and DogStarGames through Amazon (thanks work for that gift card!). Although I normally like to buy things from my LFGS, they don’t take Amazon points. I would recommend both of these stores if you do buy online, they both shipped within a day and were in my mail box a few days later. Anyway, onto the pictures! Two heavy sentinels armed with my favorite, non-Apocalypse weapon: plasma cannon goodness! I actually got these models because I like how the heavy sentinel looks and the fact it can mount up a plasma cannon is extra bonus points. It did take me a while to figure out how to glue the legs together. The legs are fully positional which is great to pose the model (and you can see some of the variation possible in my models here) but it makes it hard to glue it together. I found the best way was to glue the feet to the base as far to each side …
